A leading institution in classical dance education, the Ukrainian Ballet Academy was founded in 2005 with the mission to preserve and promote the art of ballet through the esteemed Vaganova method—renowned worldwide for its precision and effectiveness.
Originally established at the Teatro delle Erbe in Milan, the Academy has since become a national benchmark for excellence in ballet training, thanks to its highly qualified faculty, all trained in the most prestigious theatres of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
Since 2006, in collaboration with the Istituto delle Marcelline, the Academy has offered students a comprehensive educational path combining academics, boarding, and dance in a nurturing and structured environment that fosters artistic and personal growth.
A distinctive feature of the Academy’s approach is the integration of classical repertoire training from the earliest stages of study. This allows students to take part in professional productions featured in the seasons of Italy’s most prominent theatres.
Since 2014, the students’ performances feature the TAM Teatro Arcimboldi Milano’s season. This partnership culminated in 2021 with the opening of a second Academy location within the theatre itself.
The Academy further expanded in 2022/2023 with the launch of Formazione TAM, a three-year advanced training program in contemporary dance, offering a dynamic curriculum that blends technique, creativity, and interdisciplinary exploration, led by an international faculty and renowned guest choreographers.
In 2024, TAM Ballet was founded by Caterina Calvino Prina in collaboration with Gianmario Longoni, Artistic Director of TAM. This new professional company merges tradition and innovation, presenting major classical works while spotlighting emerging talent.
In 2023, the Academy also extended its reach to Sardinia, opening a new program at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. Its productions are now included in the official opera and ballet season, further affirming the Academy’s institutional recognition and artistic quality.
Officially accredited by the Lombardy Region and ISO 9001:2015 certified, the Ukrainian Ballet Academy is a central force in the Italian and European dance education landscape.
