Born in Paola, Calabria, in 1992, Roberto Tedesco began his dance training at age 11. In 2009, he joined the Scuola del Balletto di Toscana under the direction of Cristina Bozzolini, performing with its youth ensemble, Junior BdT. In 2011, after a collaboration with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, he joined Aterballetto, where he remained for ten years and worked with leading Italian and international choreographers.
Alongside his career as a performer, Tedesco progressively developed a distinctive choreographic language. His early creations for Aterballetto include Kersiam (2016), Apnea (2017), selected for the 32nd International Choreographic Competition Hannover, and Cemento (2018), created for the dance and photographic project In/Finito. He later created Punch 24 and Turn the Tide for Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto.
In 2020, his work AGR Duet received both the Critics’ Prize and the NTM Production Award at the 34th International Choreographic Competition Hannover. The recognition led to a collaboration with the Nationaltheater Mannheim, where he developed a new version of the work, later entitled Line-up.
Roberto produced for Aterballetto, MM Contemporary Dance Company, Compagnia Opus Ballet, XL Dance Company, and Ballett Vorpommern. He was also selected for the Think Big project at the Staatsoper Hannover and twice for the Italian platform Vetrina Giovane Danza d’Autore.
With Decisione Consapevole, produced by Körper | National Centre for Dance Production, he was a finalist in DNA Appunti Coreografici 2022, took part in the NID Platform Open Studios in Cagliari in 2023, and was selected for the Programming section of the NID Platform in Vicenza in 2024.
Tedesco received the Danza&Danza Award as Emerging Choreographer of 2023 and the International Dance Award “Città di Foligno” as Breakthrough Choreographer of 2024. He is currently an associate artist of MM Contemporary Dance Company for the 2025–2027 period. In 2025, his project LOS(v)ERS was among the winners of the SIAE Per Chi Crea grant.
For the 10th edition of the DAP Festival, Roberto Tedesco presents Triple Trip, a new creation for Spellbound Contemporary Ballet, in its national preview on 1 July 2026.
