Born in Chieti in 2001, Matteo Capetola began studying dance in 2007 at the New Step Art School in Francavilla al Mare (CH), under the direction of Americo Di Francesco and Paola Lancioni.
At 15, he was awarded a scholarship that took him to Florence to train at the Balletto di Toscana School, directed by Cristina Bozzolini. In 2018, he made his debut with the junior company in Le Voyage by Arianna Benedetti, later performing in Le Villi (choreography by Susanna Sastro) and Ma Mère l’Oye by Davide Bombana.
In 2019, he continued his training at the prestigious Rudra Béjart Academy in Lausanne, directed by Michel Gascard, performing in Béjart Ballet productions, including Bolero by Maurice Béjart and the 2020 Youth Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
In 2020, he joined the Nuovo Balletto di Toscana (NBDT), under the direction of Cristina Bozzolini and later Philippe Kratz. His repertoire includes The Red Shoes, Midnight Youth, and Dusk by Kratz, Cenerentola (Jiří Bubeníček), Bayadère (Michele Di Stefano), Quatuor pour la fin du temps (Mario Bermúdez Gil), Pulcinella (Arianna Benedetti), and Die Fledermaus (choreography by C.A. Schreiner, conducted by Zubin Mehta).
In July 2025, he will perform at the Venice Biennale Danza in Sisifo Felice, a new work by Philippe Kratz and Pablo Girolami.
Capetola has danced in numerous renowned venues, including La Fenice in Venice, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Teatro Sociale di Trento, Teatro Verdi in Pisa, and Teatro Romano in Verona. He has also appeared at the Nutida Festival in Scandicci, performing works by Kratz (Midnight Youth), his choreography (Between, with Matilde Di Ciolo and Carmine Catalano), and works by Alice Catapano, Roberto Doveri, and Pablo Girolami.
Since 2022, alongside his career as a performer, he has also been teaching contemporary dance at the Accademia Bozzolini, directed by Hektor Budlla.
