Martino Semenzato was born in Gavardo, Italy, and raised in Venice, where he began his ballet training at Venezia Balletto, a private ballet school. In 2013, he moved to Vienna to attend the Wiener Staatsoper Ballet Academy, and in 2015, he was accepted into the prestigious Académie Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo, from which he graduated in 2018.
He joined the Stuttgart Ballet as an apprentice for the 2018/19 season under the direction of Tamas Detrich. The following year, he became a full member of the Corps de Ballet. In December 2022, after his critically acclaimed performance as Drosselmeier in Edward Clug’s The Nutcracker, he was promoted to Demi-Soloist.
Over the course of seven seasons with the Stuttgart Ballet, Semenzato has worked with many of the world’s leading choreographers, including Jiří Kylián, Akram Khan, Johan Inger, Christian Spuck, Edward Clug, David Dawson, and William Forsythe, among others.
Since 2020, he has collaborated closely with visual artist Donna Volta Newman, producing several projects for both theatre and contemporary art spaces. Their joint work includes the upcoming screen dance film Untamed, which is set to premiere in October 2024.
