The choreographic projects of Mar Aguiló (Palma de Mallorca, 1987) are nourished, first of all, by her experience as a dancer: trained with Maurice Béjart in Lausanne (Switzerland), she later joined the CND (Spanish National Dance Company). for more than fourteen years, which allowed him to work with figures such as William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Mats Ek or Ohad Naharin, among many others.
It is in the context of the CND itself that Aguiló presents her first choreographies: Arriaga, Afterlove, and Fandangos y Tonadillas (the latter in collaboration with the National Classical Theater Company). She has also collaborated, as co-director and choreographer, with the dance production company ELAMOR, developing projects in spaces in Madrid such as the Prado Museum, CentroCentro, CaixaForum, Fundación Mapfre, and the Enaire Foundation, as well as at the MACBA (Barcelona).
In 2021 she enjoyed a “Creation Residency” at the Teatros del Canal to create her first large-format stage piece, STELLA, which premiered at the Teatros del Canal. In 2022 she directed and choreographed the Max Awards gala, as well as the designer Juan Duyos’ show for Mercedes Fashion Week in Madrid. In 2023, the same year in which his long period as a CND performer ends, she presents SWAN, a solo performed by Clémence Gross (a member of the Paris Opera ballet), and co-produced by the Teatros del Canal and the Teatre Principal de Palma.
