Letizia Masini

Letizia Masini (Florence, 2001) is an Italian ballet dancer and a member of the Corpo di Ballo del Teatro alla Scala (Milan). She began dancing at the age of four in her hometown. At ten, after a workshop, she was invited by Frédéric Olivieri to audition for the Ballet School of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, which she entered in 2012. She studied first with Elisa Scala, then with Paola Vismara, graduating in 2020 with top marks.

During her training, she received significant recognitions, including the Premio Positano Léonide Massine (2018) and the Europa in Danza Prize (2020). She represented the Accademia internationally at major events such as the 280th anniversary of the Vaganova Ballet Academy (Bolshoi Theatre and Kremlin Palace, Moscow, 2018), “Dialogue between arts” at the Hermitage Theatre (St. Petersburg, 2018), and Ballet Asteras at the New National Theatre (Tokyo, 2018). At the end of her studies, she was also awarded the “Sfera” Prize for emerging talents.

After the pandemic-related delay, she won the competition to join the Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company, becoming a permanent member of the corps de ballet in 2021. Her La Scala repertoire includes Pas d’action and solo Shades in Rudolf Nureyev’s La bayadère; the Brides and the Four Little Swans in Nureyev’s Swan Lake; Coppélia (Alexei Ratmansky), including the Act III Allegorical Variations and Swanilda’s Friends; Wayne McGregor’s LORE; and Anima Animus by David Dawson. In the Fracci Gala 2023, she performed Le Spectre de la rose. In the Balanchine/Robbins triple bill, she appeared in Jerome Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering (the “Green” couple) and The Concert (“The Ballerina”). For Pierre Lacotte’s Paquita (La Scala debut) she danced in the couples of the Grand pas. She was cast as the White Cat in Nureyev’s The Sleeping Beauty, the opening title of La Scala’s 2025–2026 season.
