Born in Spain in 1984, Fernando Roldán Ferrer began studying flamenco and Spanish dance at the Conservatorio de Música y Danza in Almería. In 2002, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Contemporary Dance program at C.A.D. in Seville.
In 2005 he collaborated with Cie. Coline in Istres (Marseille). The following year, he was selected for the MoDem Atelier program and later for MoDem Pro at Compagnia Zappalà Danza in Catania. Since then, he has been a permanent member of the company, performing in nearly all of Roberto Zappalà’s creations over the past 15 years.
In addition to his work with Compagnia Zappalà Danza, Ferrer has danced with various companies, including Petranura Danza (Salvatore Romania and Laura Odierna), Cie. Déjà Donné (Simone Sandroni), and Compagnia Ariella Vidach-Aiep (Ariella Vidach). He also starred alongside Valeria Zampardi in the dance film La Demiurge by Alain El Sakhawi.
His choreographic experimentation began in 2011 with Lui / Lei, followed by Seen / Unseen (2013) and Nocturno (2014). In 2016, he started an artistic collaboration with Alessandro Sollima, which resulted in several creations, the latest of which is Haeresis.
Over the past seven years, Ferrer has worked closely with Roberto Zappalà as an assistant and instructor of MoDem, the signature movement language of Compagnia Zappalà Danza.
He is currently MoDem and CZD2 compagniazappalàdanza2’s Director, both promoted by Scenario Pubblico CZD / Centro di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale.
