Roberta Ferrara

Roberta Ferrara, born in 1988, is the Founder, Creative Art Director, Educational Leader, Resident Choreographer of Equilibrio Dinamico Repertoire Dance Company, active since 2011 and recognized as a Production Organization by the Ministry of Culture and the Region of Puglia. The company, with its European profile, fosters annual synergies among artists. Roberta served as the associate artistic director for the Odyssey Dance Theatre in Singapore and has been coordinating three international pedagogical programs, named Ensemble & Inspiring, for over ten years. These programs involve more than 30 internationally renowned artists each year to promote cultural exchange and the development of young talents. In 2014, she graduated in Modern Literature from the University of Bari with an experimental thesis on tarantism as a therapeutic and supportive ritual. During this period, she developed the Equilibrio Dinamico Pathway, a listening practice that combines technique and introspection, forming new generations of dancers through educational exchanges with institutions in England, India, Japan, Korea, and Switzerland.

As a pedagogue, Roberta collaborates with prestigious international institutions, including Theater Basel, Teatrul de Balet Sibiu, the Prague Conservatory, Mosa Ballet School, English National Ballet School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Copenhagen Dance Festival, Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Lugo, Conservatorio Internacional Annarella Sanchez, Eko Dance Project, and Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin, Yeungnam University, Korea. Her choreographies have been invited to numerous international festivals, including Masdanza, FIDCMX Mexico, Cortoindanza, Network Danza Urbana XL, Festival Ammutinamenti Anticorpi XL, ZED Festival, DanzInc, BallettGala Staatstheater Bremerhaven, Tanzmesse, Prospettiva Danza Teatro, Festival delle 100 Scale, Danza in Rete Festival, Lucky Trimmer, Fuoriformato Festival, Vivadança, Albania Dance Meeting, SoloCoreografico USA, Solo Contemporary Dance Festival Ankara, Sid Festival Seattle, Interdans, Split Summer Festival, and Quinzena de Dança de Almada. She has received several awards, including the Solo Tanz Theater Festival award in Stuttgart, the Festival Indivenire award in Italy, and the Linkage – Contemporary Dance Miniatures award in Sofia.

She also received the Outstanding Choreographer Award for the Youth America Grand Prix and the first-place global award in 2024 at Lincoln Center in New York. Her work has been supported by the Italian Cultural Institutes of New York, Seoul, Mexico City, São Paulo, Athens, San Francisco, Ankara, Cologne, and Zagreb. Her original creations have been commissioned by various theaters and companies, including Staatstheater Augsburg, Teatro Moravské Divaldo Olomouc, Korea Ballet House in Seoul, Delattre Dance Company in Germany, Experimental Film Virginia in the United States, Odyssey Dance Theatre in Singapore, and the National Choreographic Center of Dance/Aterballetto, Italy. Her creations and pedagogical approach have been presented in over 25 countries, including Italy, Mexico, the United States, Albania, Vietnam, Belgium, Germany, Croatia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, India, Portugal, Turkey, Brazil, Lebanon, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Denmark.
