Harald Emgård has worked as a voice and speech teacher for more than 25 years.
With one leg in the academic world and the other in the word of performing arts is his field international. He works at various prestigious theatres and opera houses in Sweden, as well as with the Swedish Radio and Television. He has held the position as Head of Voice at Balettakademien in Göteborg, Lecturer of Voice and Speech at School of Theatre, Opera and Musical, University of Göteborg and been Senior Lecturer and Dean at Malmö Theatre Academy, University of Lund.
He is a regular guest Lecture at Department of Logopedics, Phoniatrics and Audiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Lund as well at Åbo Academy, University of Åbo, Finland. He is also a frequent lecturer in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service as well as in the Educational Institute of the Swedish Church.
Nowadays he mostly free-lance. He has an extensive international field for his work. Among is regular teaching/coaching is Danceworks berlin, Berlin, Germany, The Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema and with Vietnam National Opera and Ballet. In Taiwan he has been a guest professor at Taipei National University of the Arts, he has worked with Tainaner Ensemble, Taipei Performing Arts Center, National Theatre and Cloude Gate Dance Company. His teaching has taken him to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and New York. Furthermore has he been a visiting scholar at Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Erasmus), Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Royal Shakespeare Company in London; Hochschule for Schauspielskunst “Ernst Busch”in Berlin; Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica “Silvio D’Amici” in Rome and most of the theatre academies in the Nordic countries.
Harald has made specialty of working with dancers. He teaches and coach both acting and voice for dancers.
His book about voice, voice work and acting ‘Developing your Voice – from Personal to Professional’ was published at Methuen, UK 2022 and due for release in Mandarin at Bookman Books in Taipei, Taiwan in the autumn of 2023.
