Antonio Russo

Antonio Russo is an Italian choreographer and dancer born in Naples, Italy. He trained at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden, building a strong foundation in both classical and contemporary techniques. He began his professional career with the Semperoper Ballett Dresden and later joined Tivoli Ballet Theatre in Copenhagen. As a performer, he has danced a wide-ranging repertoire spanning classical and contemporary works, including pieces by William Forsythe, George Balanchine, and Ohad Naharin. Engaging with these diverse choreographic languages shaped his understanding of structure, musical phrasing, and physicality, and continues to inform his own creations. Antonio’s choreographic work explores the intersections between dance and other artistic disciplines. Fashion, film, poetry, and visual composition are not mere references but integral materials in his process. His work serves as a platform for artists from different fields to come together, exchanging craft, perspective, and vision. He creates environments in which these mediums actively inform one another, approaching choreography as a space where they coexist and shape each other. Alongside his stage work, Antonio collaborates as a movement director, investigating the dialogue between body and camera. Projects with clients such as Cartier, YSL, Numéro Netherlands, and Elle France have furthered his exploration of multidisciplinary creation, where movement, fashion, and visual storytelling intersect. In 2023, he partnered with designer Louis Gabriel Nouchi on the choreography Time to Put Friday to Bed, followed in 2024 by the dance film Thick Air Around Us, created with Vogue Scandinavia. His most recent work, Perhaps Everybody Has a Garden of Eden, was awarded the Copenhagen Made Choreography Award in 2025.
