Born in Naples, Annarumma Francesco embarked on his educational journey at prestigious institutions such as the Académie de Danse Princesse Grace, the Ballet School of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and the English National Ballet School. This journey introduced him to the world of professional dancing, where he quickly made his mark as a freelance dancer working with renowned choreographers both in Italy and abroad. His passion and dedication to dance led him to work with the Monaco Dance Forum under the visionary guidance of Jean-Christophe Maillot.
His career took a significant turn when he began collaborating with the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz under the artistic direction of Hans Henning Paar, performing in a vast ballet repertoire and in choreographic works by Fernando Melo. The arrival of director Karl Alfred Schreiner marked a further step forward in his career, as he was assigned the role of resident choreographer and curator for the company.
His artistic journey in Munich offered him the opportunity to work closely with some of the most influential choreographers of our time, including Jo Strømgren, Jacopo Godani, Toni Rizzi, Georg Reischl, and Emanuel Soavi, who entrusted him with the lead role in “One Flat Thing Reproduced” by William Forsythe. He also participated in international festivals, such as the one in Houston, performing choreographies by Jacopo Godani and Marguerite Donlan.
Francesco’s aspiration to explore new horizons led him to collaborate with artists of the caliber of Marco Goecke, Emanuel Gat, Benoit Lachambre, Alexander Ekman, and many others, performing around the world and contributing to the contemporary dance scene with his artistic vision.
His recognized choreographic ability opened the doors to prestigious theaters, such as the Gärtnerplatz and the Teatro Petruzzelli, where he debuted with choreographic movements for the opera “Il Trovatore” by Giuseppe Verdi. His creativity also led to new creations, such as “Strange Creature” for the Staatstheater in Magdeburg, Germany. This inaugurated 2019 with a work reflecting his constant artistic research.
Francesco’s career, enriched by numerous international awards for choreography, bears witness to the commitment and passion he has always dedicated to the art of dance. His collaboration with the Teatro San Carlo and the National Opera of Ukraine, as well as his role as artistic director at the Teatro “Eduardo De Filippo,” underline his significant contribution to the world of dance. Finally, last year’s show “Inner” for the ARB DanceCompany, and especially his experience as a guest choreographer for the ballet school of the Opera Theater/Teatro dell’Opera of Rome under the direction of Etoile Eleonora Abbagnato, with the successful show “Atto Due,” mark just some of the milestones that define his relentless pursuit of excellence in the art of dance.
