Alan Lucien Øyen is a Bergen-born Norwegian choreographer, writer, and director, internationally recognized for fusing dance and theatre into emotionally driven, visually bold works. He trained in Oslo (graduating in 2001), danced with leading contemporary companies including Carte Blanche and Pretty Ugly Dance Company in Cologne, and began choreographing in the early 2000s.
In 2006, he founded Winter Guests, an interdisciplinary company that brings together dancers, actors, writers, designers, and technicians to create original productions, often co-written with British playwright Andrew Wale.
Since 2013, Øyen has been Artist-in-Residence at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet / Norwegian National Ballet, where he has developed large-scale hybrid works.
Internationally, he created Bon Voyage, Bob (2018) for Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, and Cri de cœur (2022), a full-evening creation for the Paris Opera Ballet. He is a recipient of major honors, including the Tom Wilhelmsen Foundation Opera & Ballet Prize.
