Born in 1978 in Lisbon, Portugal, Filipe Portugal began his dance education at the National Conservatory in Lisbon under the mentorship of Georges Garcia. Upon graduation, he joined the National Ballet of Portugal as part of the corps de ballet and was later promoted to soloist. In 2003, he moved to Ballett Zürich under the direction of Heinz Spoerli, where he performed as a principal dancer. After a brief return to the National Ballet of Portugal, he rejoined Ballett Zürich, continuing as a principal dancer under Christian Spuck until he retired from performance in June 2020. Transitioning to choreography, Filipe has created works that showcase a dialogue between movement and music. In 2022, he was appointed Artistic Director of Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden.
